Eight Austin Locations to Hold Bake Sales with All Proceeds Going to Relief Efforts in West

Austin, TX (April 23, 2013) -­-­ On Saturday, May 4th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., hundreds of bakers, bloggers, businesses, and consumers will unite for “Austin Bakes for West,” a bake sale fundraising event to help those affected by the recent explosion in West, Texas. Over 80 home cooks and dozens of local businesses will be contributing baked goods at locations throughout Austin, with proceeds going to AmeriCares relief efforts in West.

Baked goods will include kolaches, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, pies and pastries of all kinds. Several home bakers are creating Texas-­themed confections for the sale, while others will be baking locally sourced, organic, vegan or gluten-­free items. In addition, customers may purchase gourmet pastries that have been donated by some of Austin’s finest professional bakers and restaurants. All funds raised will go to AmeriCares disaster relief efforts in West. Those who wish to make a gift in advance of the sale may do so at Austin Bakes for West’s secure, online giving page.

presented Austin Bakes for Japan and Austin Bakes for Bastrop, citywide bake sales which in 2011 raised
